Supporting the Lab

We are actively engaging with experienced entrepreneurs, investors, and business leaders who are interested in providing either financial or non-financial support to the lab.

Volunteer with us

We’re keen on speaking with UW alumni who have spent time as startup founders, early-stage investors, or corporate intrapreneurs, and who would like to be guest speakers or mentors during our events. If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact us.

Make a gift

Why donate

Every gift helps create opportunities for student entrepreneurs at the iSchool. For example:

  • A $500 gift covers the snacks and beverages for 2-3 of our community events
  • A $1,000 gift enables us to award 1-2 micro grants to student startup teams
  • Gifts of $5,000 to $25,000+ help catalyze the development of additional courses and programming

How to donate

There are several ways to provide financial support for the lab:

  • Make a one-time or recurring donation via credit card by submitting an online gift to the iStartup Lab Support Fund
  • Make a multi-year commitment, pay via check, or donate stock by completing an individual pledge form. To begin the pledge process, please contact us and we’ll connect you with our dean and advancement team.
  • Take advantage of employer gift matching if your firm offers it. The process for making a gift that’s eligible for matching varies by employer, but here are a few tips:
    • Specify the recipient as “University of Washington Foundation” or “UW Foundation” (federal tax ID 94-3079432)
    • In the fields for Fund/Purpose or Comments, enter “Information School: iStartup Lab”
    • If your employer doesn’t use an online giving portal and you make a direct donation to UW using one of the options above, please enter your employer name in the appropriate field and then follow the instructions from your HR department to request a gift match

After making any gift, we kindly ask that you contact us and let us know the method and amount, so we can track the donation on our side and make sure the funds are routed to the iStartup Lab.

Transformative gifts

We are also seeking a major donor who can make a transformative gift that will enable us to expand and sustain the iStartup Lab over a 5-10 year period. To learn more about making a major gift, please contact us and we’ll connect you with our dean and advancement team.
